ARC Test Engineer's responsibilities are to plan and execute ARC-heater testing. You will be the bridge that spans the test team to include test analysts, test managers, engineering technicians, capability manager, and the customer. The most important skills required for this job include sound engineering judgement, organization and attention to detail, and clear, consistent communication to the test team and customer.
Responsibilities:
* Phase 1: Planning, participating in test inquiry discussion, coordinating meetings with the test team, determining test requirements, and assisting developing cost estimates
* Phase 2: Test design, coordinating with test team to conduct internal test planning meetings, participating in safety and security planning, coordinating with the test team and customer to determine test objectives and test matrix, working with the test team to assess match between test objectives and the facility capabilities, disseminate instrumentation requirements to test team, define deliverables and test schedule, develop test plan and contribute to data analysis plan, providing inputs to Technical and Safety Review boards, and participating in the reviews
* Phase 3: Test Execution, providing inputs to the Test Readiness Review slide deck and participate in the review, verifying that Go/No-Go criteria are in place to initiate the test, communicating all test requirements and Go/No-Go criteria to test team and customer, and directing testing
* Phase 4: Analysis and reporting, coordinating delivery of preliminary data package to the customer, coordinating with test analysts to perform data analysis, contributing to technical report development
* Provide technical support to the Space & Missiles Test Branch High Temperature Laboratory (HTL, aka Arcs) in developmental test and evaluation (T&E) activities for DoD weapon systems.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report ground test results supporting systems under development or in deployment.
* Serve as a test engineer in performing and/or coordinating technical test execution, working with team test managers, test analysts, test operations engineers, and affiliated team members.
* Maintain cognizance of all assigned engineering activities.
* Support and/or lead periodic reviews for test planning and execution including test planning working groups, technical review boards and test readiness reviews.
* Provide technical support and advocate integrated approaches of engineering efforts and support of test activities for which existing guidelines may not be available or applicable.
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years of Test Cell ID&C experience
* Active DoD security clearance at the required level.
* Focused adherence to safety and security requirements in an office and industrial facility-based environment
* Experience with test and evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies
* Intermittent travel is anticipated to support and participate in briefings and reviews, and to collaborate with team members at other DoD installations or contractor facilities
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with ID&C for an Arc-Heater test cell is highly preferred
* Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python is desired
Education/Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in science or engineering from an accredited school
* Advanced degree or additional graduate-level coursework in science or engineering is a plus
