Monitors patients and collects information for documentation in EMR. Transports patients and documents action on patient record. Collects and records vital signs, weights, and other patient data in patient record. Administers oxygen under the direction of a licensed Nurse. Assists nurses and physicians with sterile procedures. Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the EMR. Removes peripheral, intravenous therapy lines and urethral tubes. Performs bedside testing such as oximetry, ECG, Glucometery, urinalysis and other tests. Assists with ADLs. Operates patient monitoring systems specific to unit needs (such as, cardiac and fetal heart monitoring). Participates in the nutritional well-being of the patient through tray delivery, assistance with patient set-up, assists those patients that are dependent for their intake needs, and accurately records consumption. Insures cleanliness and stocking of nutrition areas and general unit and equipment. Delivers specimens to Laboratory, Microbiology and Pathology. Delivers patient food trays and nourishment. Performs basic clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, filing and copying. Assists or provides patient hygiene to include, shaving, mouth care, foot care, pericare, and bathing. Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen and assures proper storage of cylinders. Organizes care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team. Communicates information pertinent to the end of shift summation before leaving the unit. Performs other functions as required.
