* Hourly Rate Range: $26.03/hr - $28.86/hrHours per Day: 6.0Days per Year: 191Shift: VariesIDENTIFYING INFORMATIONJob Title: Classification Level:Non-CDL Transportation Driver VReports to: Working Titles:Director of TransportationSUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENTUnder the direction of the Director of Transportation or his/her designee, reliably, efficiently, and safely transports students to and from school and other approved activities according to time schedules and routes, in a school district motor pool vehicle. This position is subject to FHWA drug & alcohol testing as provided by District Policy 5259.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Maintains order during trips and adheres to safety rules when loading and unloading* Maintains familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of District motor pool vehicles.* Monitors students in transport and reports concerns to Director of Transportation/* Coordinates with Paraeducators or other District staff when needing help loading and unloading* Exercises responsible leadership and professional attitude.* Keeps student information confidential.* Keeps assigned District vehicle clean.* Completes daily log, keeps route book up to date, and reports route.* Follows accident procedures.* Reports to Director of Transportation/designee any student misconduct and parent* Completes prompt write-ups regarding motor pool vehicle* Discharges students only at authorized stops/destinations.* Takes direction and instruction regarding safe driving procedures as required to fulfill functions.* Attends annual in-service (required by law), meetings and training sessions which the District determines necessary to fulfill position responsibilities* Maintains ability to drive all motor pool fleet and operate special equipment.The essential functions listed above are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. High School graduate or GED/equivalent* Must be at least 21 years old* Minimum of five years of experience as a licensed driver* Washington State Enhanced Driver's License* Acceptable driving record as defined in WAC 392-144-103 (2)(3). Driving record free of all major violations such as DWI or negligent driving, with a limited number of minor violationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* Skill in driving in all kinds of adverse weather conditions* Basic knowledge of computers and email software* Must be able communicate easily and clearly in English* Ability to interact tactfully and positively with all levels of staff, management, applicants, and other customers and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders* Possess strong initiative and self-motivation* Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion regarding personnel issues and other sensitive information* Ability to effectively establish work priorities, and to make independent decisions* Ability to work on multiple tasks* Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills* Ability to be flexible and open to new ideas* Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy* Ability to follow directions yet exercise independent and appropriate decision making* Ability to provide professional customer service to a diverse community* Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to exchange information accurately and appropriately* Ability to adapt to changes in all transportation operations while calmly handling predictable and/or emergency situations and conflicts* Ability to present a professional appearance and positive attitude when communicating and interacting with students, parents, fellow workers and the general public from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures* Ability to learn the safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to student transportation* Ability to demonstrate and maintain a punctual and excellent work attendance recordCertification and Licenses* Fingerprinting and background check at the expense of the employee (Washington State Patrol & FBI background clearance)* Must have a valid Enhanced Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance* Five-year complete driving abstract (obtained from of Licensing)* Ability to acquire first aid/CPR/AED certificationDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS* Bilingual* Previous experience in a public-school setting or related learning/development environment* Experience reading and interpreting road and street maps* Familiarity with vehicle maintenance concepts* Knowledge of safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to student transportationWORKING CONDITIONSAbility to use fingers, hands and arms, sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to bend, stretch, twist, walk, reach and perform recurring physical activity requiring ordinary strength. Ability to hear and see, to perform duties of driving bus. Exposures include traffic, inclement weather at times, cold, heat dust, fumes possible infectious diseases. Constant exposure to moderate level of noise that does not require hearing protection and occasional disruptive behavior of students. Required to operate hand and foot controls. Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds in difficult working positions. Exposure to vibration of moving vehicle while in a sitting position.
