Position Type: TransportationDate Posted: 12/2/2024Location: Deer Creek Operations & TransportationsDeer Creek School District Edmond, Oklahoma JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Non-CDL Driver Department: Transportation Immediate Supervisor: Transportation Director/Transportation Supervisor Job Goal: Provide safe and efficient transportation so that all passengers may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's school program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive a school bus or other assigned vehicle maintaining a schedule safely.
  • Interact with children, parents, teachers and other employees in a safe, proper and helpful manner.
  • Maintain records of student riders, accidents and safety inspections.
  • Attend State SDE bus driver certification classes and online training as required.
  • Clean up various body fluid spills including those containing blood and vomit.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles, notifying proper authorities in case of mechanical failures.
  • Maintain student discipline in accordance with District/Transportation policies.
  • Report and complete all required documents for driving concerns and accidents.
  • Keep the assigned route or daily assigned vehicle clean, fueled and ready to transport riders at all times.
  • Follow all rules for Transportation Bus Monitor when working in that capacity.
  • When driving a special needs vehicle assist the monitor as needed for securing walk-ons and wheelchairs in a safe manner to include any extra loose equipment.
  • Perform simple data recording/record keeping operations requiring logging, filing or posting single entry items either manually or by computer.
  • Read and interpret routine written or printed materials such as basic blueprints, charts, diagrams, maps or instruction materials.
  • Work with Transportation Safety/Trainer to implement any changes in law, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Establish and/or maintain an existing filing system.
  • Obtain an annual State physical and pre-employment drug screening. Be involved in random drug screening in accordance with Federal/District standards.
  • Follow generally standardized operating policies and procedures.
  • Work with Transportation Safety/Trainer to conduct and document student emergency evacuations in accordance with all state/District rules.
  • Work with Transportation Safety/Trainer to conduct and document pre-trip inspections of any vehicle driven in accordance with all state/District rules.
  • Maintain a current physical test in accordance with all Federal/state/District rules.
  • Maintain a current SDE certification in accordance with all state/transportation rules.
  • Maintain a current Class D or higher license in accordance with all state/District rules.
  • Maintain a current Motor Vehicle Report with minimal reported incidents in accordance with all state/District rules.
  • Assist in keeping the transportation office spaces, and parking areas clean.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Responsible for assisting in the organization, administration and supervision in the areas of the school district transportation system. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director. EQUIPMENT: Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions. Use standard automotive and bus equipment, and telephone. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel to school District buildings and professional meetings as required.     QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE: Child Restraint Training and CPR in accordance with all state/District rules. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Experience in School Transportation recommended. EXPERIENCE: Successful experience working with Special Needs children and their parents. FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
