Position Type: Support Staff/ Non-Certified Registered NurseDate Posted: 10/9/2024Location: DistrictwideDistrict: Lombard Elementary District 44NON-CERT SCHOOL NURSE District Wide - Lombard, IL $45,000 for the school year (10months/6hrs a day), Sick and Personal Days, Holidays off, IMRF Pension, BCBS HMO Employee Only covered by the district QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Completion of requirements for a Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) degree, preferred 2. RN who obtains the designation for Individualized Education Program (IEP) privileges by a non-PEL Registered Nurse (See 23 Illinois Administrative Code 226.160(c)(1)(A) or (B)) preferred 3. Current Registered Nurse licensure in State of Illinois 4. Experience in nursing and completion of a school health orientation program, preferred 5. Maintains certification in Child/Adult CPR and First Aid. 6. Illinois Certification as a Vision and Hearing screening technician, preferred 7. Experience in working with medically fragile children, and preforming medical procedures (ie; G-tube feedings), preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Listening and speaking skills. 2. Visually observing student behavior.REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Building principal.SUPERVISES: Students.JOB GOAL: To promote good health in the school-aged child and to provide professional nursing services as defined in the Illinois Nursing Act.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Supervises secretaries, health clerks and noontime personnel in routine first aid. 2. Supervises health clerks as to other duties, including clerical jobs. 3. Provides for additional training of health clerks in areas where their knowledge can benefit the school health program. 4. Complies information and/or completes health history and health history updates in consultation with parents. 5. Maintains communication with the administrators, other district nurses, teachers, other school personnel, and parent/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the health and safety needs of students 6. Provides health services, information, and counseling in an effective and positive manner to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. 7. Advises teachers and other staff members about students with specific health problems and helps them manage these students. 8. Contacts doctors to secure additional medical information or clarification of health problems. 9. Contacts agencies regarding epidemiology, or special needs like glasses, hearing clerks, orthopedic evaluations, etc. 10. Helps devise district policies for health, emergency care, accidents, drug abuse, etc. 11. Keeps files and acts as resource on up-to-date health education materials (includes articles and audio/visual resources). 12. Reviews all health records. 13. Notifies parents of children who are not compliant; provides referrals to community agencies as needed. 14. Maintains list of students with medical problems. 15. Maintains list of students unprotected for communicable diseases. 16. Provides for vision, hearing, spinal, and blood pressure screenings; does heights and weights. 17. Observes students for general health; recognizes problems with head lice, rashes, etc. 18. Provides emergency care. 19. Aide in filing state and county reports regarding screenings, immunizations, physicals, etc. 20. Charts pertinent information on student's health file. 21. Supervises the filing of medical information, e.g., doctor's reports, accident reports, communications, etc. 22. Supervises the maintenance of supplies and equipment. 23. Maintain privacy and confidentiality per Federal Law, State Law and School Code. 24. Performs other health or school related work as required. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1.
