Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking a Non-Credit Phlebotomy Adjunct Instructor for its Workforce and Continuing Education Division. Instructional workload will be based on demand in surrounding communities serviced by the College. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, and create a student-oriented learning environment. Classes may be offered day, evening, or weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
* Creating course curriculum, assignments, and assessments; refining, and modifying as industry dictates.
* Meeting expectations of reliability, responsibility, professionalism, and efficiency.
* Promoting and supporting student success.
* Teaching Phlebotomy courses as assigned utilizing a curriculum that prepares and enables students to receive a credential and pass applicable exams to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
* Serving as an academic advisor to a diverse population of students.
* Coordinate Student Clinicals with local hospitals to meet National Exam requirement.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of five years of experience as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
Must possess or be able to obtain an ASCP or NHA certification and be licensed to practice as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
Expert level of skills and abilities necessary to pass the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam.
Demonstrated knowledge of local and regional health care facilities and systems.
Ability to meet set deadlines with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge of computer systems including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
Associate's Degree or higher.
