Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
- Provides prompt, safe transportation for the patient, volunteers and staff during the transportation process.
- Practice defensive driving at all times and always adhere to all traffic rules and regulations
- Assists the clinical and registration staff to assure continuity of care for the patient prior to and during the transportation process as indicated/requested
- Use critical thinking and follows transportation protocols and processes to validate the appropriateness for each trip.
Clinical Excellence/quality
- Provides safety checks to transport van prior to transporting, at the start of each shift.
- Reports deficiencies, malfunctions and/or needed repairs and regular maintenance to manager.
- Restocks, cleans, refuels the patient transfer van as needed, assuring the van is prepared for the next transportation of passengers.
- Provides support to assigned CCH department(s) when not actively providing NEMT patient transportation, or related Transport Van Driver Duties, during any scheduled shift.
Basic Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria
- Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA, EMTALA, IDPH and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Qualifications:Education: Must be able to read, write, and understand EnglishExperience: Preferred: Previous transportation and/or commercial driving experience.License(s)/Certification(s):
- BLS Certification (Within 6 months of hire)
- Valid Driver's License with Chauffer D3 endorsement
- EVOC or equivalent (within 1 year of hire)
- Mandatory Reporter (withing 6 months of hire)
- Other certifications/verifications may be required based on contractual requirements with clients.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Use of customary equipment used to perform basic driving functions of the van, including but not limited to lights, communication systems, wheel chair lift, etc.
- Customer/patient focused critical thinking skills, using independent judgement in making decisions.
