DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Press Office Intern, you will have the chance to acquire essential knowledge and experience regarding the functions and operations of a PennDOT Communications Office. This internship will allow you to apply your background in Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration and Management, Web Design, and Digital Media Marketing/Communication during the summer of the 2025 Summer Employment Program. Internship opportunities associated with this posting will be for Engineering District 3 which consists of Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, and Bradford Counties. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel may be required
  • May have an option to work alternate work schedule to assist Safety Press Officer with safety events outside office.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONSStudents who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.
    • Acceptable Majors:
    • Communications
    • Public Relations
    • English
    • Marketing
    • Business Administration
  • Must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Additional Requirements:

    • Upon verification of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License without incident, some positions may be authorized to operate Department vehicles as part of this job.
    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
