Learn More About Shoreline AND Video Tour Our Campus!The Safety and Security office is a 24-7 operation with front desk support/dispatchers working during College business hours. The department consists of a diverse team of highly motivated, dynamic, officers and staff. The Safety and Security (S&S) office strides for professionalism and ethics, practicing team-oriented concepts in our daily duties. Under the direct supervision of the Program Specialist 3, the Program Specialist 2 coordinates office operations, program services, and performs a variety of routine office support functions of the Safety and Security office.*Note: This is a non-permanent Classified position. Non-permanent appointments will not exceed eighteen (18) months. This position is part-time, typically works 18 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., with schedule dependent upon department needs.Primary responsibilities include the following:
  • Greets and assists all individuals entering the office.
  • Answers phone and assists callers.
  • Dispatch officers.
  • Enters citations/appeal results into Omnigo/ctcLink.
  • Takes appeals at front counter.
  • Takes key requests at front counter.
  • Issues/logs parking permits at front counter.
  • Receives/check-in key/parking permit returns at front counter.
  • Receives/enters items for Lost & Found, places them in cabinet.
  • Files appeals, files citations after they've been entered.
  • Files parking permits.
  • Submits work orders as needed.
  • Assist with fleet management.
  • Monitors and responds to department email.
  • Stacks, stamps, opens, codes, sorts, files or alphabetizes correspondence, records, or materials according to established procedures and predetermined categories; maintains files and records.
  • Assist with spreadsheet maintenance and data entry using Excel.
  • Open and date-stamp incoming mail; learns to sort and route mail; picks up and prepares outgoing mail; learns tomaintain logs, lists, rosters, directories, and other records.
  • Functions as a receptionist.
  • Keyboards/types office forms, envelopes, labels, and index tabs.
  • Proofreads material and identifies areas needing corrections.
  • Photocopies and collates material.
  • Enters and retrieves data from electronic data processing systems; establishes and updates information generates documents and correspondence; communicates with others via electronic means; updates computer system files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (of a similar nature or level).

Conditions of Employment Physical Work Environment:
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of sitting for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements.
  • Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen.
Terms Of Employment/Salary: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement by and between The State of Washington and the Washington Federation of State Employees Article 4.3, Section D.1., Non-Permanent Employment - Classified positions, the Employer may make classified non-permanent appointments to fill in for the following categories: a. For the absence of a permanent Classified employee (including breaks/meals, absences, etc.), b. During a workload peak, c. While recruitment is being conducted, d. To reduce the possible effects of a layoff. Non-permanent appointments will not exceed eighteen (18) months. This position is allocated to pay range 42 under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.*Note: This is a non-permanent Classified position.
