At Arundel Lodge, Inc., our mission is to enhance the lives of children, adults, and families affected by mental health and substance use disorders. We are dedicated to providing exceptional behavioral health services and are seeking a Controller to join our dynamic team.Position Overview:We are looking for a Controller with a strong background in accounting and finance, particularly within the non-profit sector. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for our mission and a commitment to excellence.Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project accounting processes and lead the month-end close for assigned grant projects.
  • Collaborate with finance and departmental staff to ensure a transparent and efficient grant life cycle, from proposal to close.
  • Review field office general ledger transactions, timesheets, and financial documents for completeness and audit readiness.
  • Manage, coach, and mentor as well as interns or volunteers.
  • Explore automation opportunities within the CRM for improved efficiency.
  • Prepare financial reports for management and Board presentations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting practices, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies.
  • Handle transactional activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and maintaining work papers.
  • Conduct analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support decision-making.
  • Manage grant allocations and funder reporting.
  • Prepare for and oversee the annual audit process.
Provide training opportunities for clients and staff.
  • Transform financial departments in non-profit organizations to help them achieve their missions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2- 4 years of accounting experience in a non-profit environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles; CPA.
  • Familiarity with government guidelines and tax laws affecting non-profits.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in ADP and SAGE Intacct software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
