The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Office of Global Engagement is seeking a Non-Resident Tax Specialist to provide support to the university's international student and exchange visitor population for the purpose of determining payroll tax rates. Additional responsibilities include managing tax software to ensure proper tax withholding and filing and liaising with campus partners and administrators for tax related questions and solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To meet with international students and exchange visitors ( Non-Resident Aliens per the IRS Code) to determine tax rates for payroll purposes.
* To manage the Non-Resident Alien (NRA) tax software and solutions to ensure proper tax withholding and filing.
* To work with department administrators to determine tax ramifications regarding international visitor reimbursements and honoraria.
* To review workflows for new international hires institution-wide, and to liaise with campus partners and administrators on matters of appropriate tax deductions and I-9 completion for international students and exchange visitors.
(Annual Salary: $39,215 - $50,000)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
