Possess the ability to work positively and effectively with students, families, school personnel, and other community agencies.Job SummaryJob SummaryGENERAL DESCRIPTION The breakfast/cafeteria/noon duty aide's primary function is to supervise the activities of children while they are in the cafeteria or on the playground at lunchtime, and to prevent unruly or potentially dangerous conduct. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: 1. Principles, practices and applications of discipline 2. School discipline plan 3. Use of effective communication skills 4. First aide and CPR (to be offered by the district) 5. Knowledge of basic math Ability to: 1. Handle children in group situations 2. To apply firm discipline 3. To react calmly and effectively in case of an accident 4. Lift and carry heavy objects TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, specialists, students and others contacted in the course of work 2. Understand and carry out oral and written directions 3. Work independently as necessary 4. Recognize and understand the needs of children 5. Assist in serving food, as needed, collect and wash trays/dishes as necessary 6. Wash tables and clean up within the time frame scheduled, as applies to site 7. Supervise students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground 8. may be required to collect money for meals, count meals, count and record money and tally meals and document 9. Work in a safe manner and observe all sanitation procedures SUPERVISION General supervision is provided by on site administration.
