Job Posting Kansas Neurological Institute The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 120 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI practices a person-centered philosophy to support our residents so they can have the quality of life they deserve by recognizing their individuality, honoring their choices, protecting and maintaining their health, helping to build and maintain their relationships with others, and making sure that they are included in every aspect of their lives; in their homes, in their jobs, and in the community. KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. KNI is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation. About the Position: This position leads and supervises members of a home work team who provide direct services to individuals residing at KNI. They ensure an environment that facilitates learning and promotes meaningful lives, they serve as a role model for staff, and they assist staff in multiple areas. These areas include: Personal Lifestyle Plans, Personalized Lifestyle Design Plans, and Essential Lifestyle Plans and Maps. The CTS ensures staff meet monthly with the Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) and Health Care Coordinator (HCC), and assists staff in preparing materials to be reviewed at the monthly meeting with the QIDP/HCC. They also work closely with QIDP and HCC to ensure home work team is working towards meeting the mission and vision statements of KNI. They participate in all aspects of home work team training, which includes the development and use of the following skills: community building, dialogue, problem solving, decision-making, communication, conflict resolution, etc. They learn and follow KNI policies, procedures, home routines and processes and keep current on changes. They honor the rights, responsibilities and confidentiality of other team members, staff, and individuals being served.
