Location : Carbondale, Illinois Job Type: Faculty Job Number: 202400716 Department: School of Education-SIUC Opening Date: 10/18/2024 Closing Date: 11/15/2024 11:59 PM Central FLSA:: Variable Security/Safety Sensitive:: NA Description The position of Clinical Supervisor works with the Office of Teacher Education in the School of Education. This is a non-tenure track, term position with particular emphasis on instruction and clinical supervision of online and/or field experiences for undergraduate students focused on earning a Professional Educator License. Examples of Duties
  • Supervise undergraduate clinical experiences in approved public schools.
  • a. Observe students teach lessons at their clinical sites and/or virtually. b. Conference with students after the observations and/or virtually. c. Check-in with students and cooperating teachers periodically about student progress in person and/or virtually. d. Complete appropriate evaluation forms for clinical experiences. 2. Assist the Site Director in confirming placements for future clinical placements in approved public schools maintaining formal agreements with SIU Carbondale to provide practical experiences. Next semesters placements should be secured by week 1O of the previous semester. 3. Attend monthly clinical supervision meeting and/or virtually. 4. Serve as a liaison between SIU Carbondale and the public schools in the assigned region. 5. Submit appropriate assessments for teacher candidates in clinical placements. 6. Attend and support seminars organized by the Office of Teacher Education QualificationsMinimum requirements:
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching or education related experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school and/or secondary level. This may or may not include experiences teaching Music, Special Education, Art, or Agricultural Education.
  • Applicants for the Assistant Lecturer rank must have completed a Master's Degree in a licensure area by date of hire. For those holding a doctoral degree, appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional involvement with several different grade levels and curricular areas.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching teacher candidates or practicing teachers.
