Job Details The technical director will perform all duties of a nuclear medicine tech position with additional responsibilities including, but not limited to: acting as a resource to all nuclear medicine techs, facilitating new employee/student training and serving as the lab technical director and maintaining accreditation through IAC. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Administers radiopharmaceutical or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a cardiologist. Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients bodies, using a camera to produce photographic or computer images. Produces a computer-generated or film image for interpretation of a physician. Gathers information on patients illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy. Preparation of pharmacological stress agents, dose calculation and administration Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides them with assistance during test procedures. Calculates, measures, and records radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed, using computer and following physicians prescription. Processes cardiac function studies and records results of procedures. Assists in preparing the final report for each test performed. Performs quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras. Maintains and calibrates radioisotope and laboratory equipment. Prepares stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients. Disposes of radioactive materials and stores radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures. Serves as Technical Director of the nuclear medicine lab Maintains nuclear lab accreditation through IAC Participates in quality improvement / quality assurance projects Assures critical findings/results are reported per policy Performs other duties assigned by CHPPs executive leadership, the Chair of the Department of Cardiology and the AVP of the Cardiovascular Service Line Reports to the Nuclear Lab Medical Director, CHPPs executive leadership, the Chair of the Department of Cardiology and the AVP of the Cardiovascular Service for clinical quality and accreditation. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Able to read/interpret EKG tracings Able to administer CPR when warranted Able to enter data electronically accurately and quickly Good communication skills with patients, physicians, nurses and fellow staff members Effectively reinforces good behavior and discourages negativity Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. standards as set by the health system EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS Must have an active NMTCB or ARRT(N) license ACLS Certification EXPERIENCE: At least two years in either an outpatient or hospital setting WORKING CONDITIONS: Studies are performed in a mobile nuclear exam at various practices Must be able to stand for long periods of time Must be able to travel to different locations as needed Must be able to push/pull heavy medical equipment Catholic Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Salary Range USD $125,000.00 - USD $144,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidates qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
