Job Description:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Shift:- 8a - 4:30p, No major holidays, no weekends, no on-call.

EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelor of Science in a scientific field with a certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited academic program or

An Associates Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited academic program plus 2 years of experience by date of hire.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Must be certified upon hire (or within first year of hire) and remain current in the following:

Current registration in Nuclear Medicine (NMTCB or ARRT (NM)) and at least one of the following advanced certifications and current registries: NMTCB(PET), NMTCB(NCT), ARRT(CT), ARRT(MR).

Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License

NIH Human Subjects Protection in Research Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR.

EXPERIENCE: Experience in Molecular/Nuclear Imaging Preferred (SPECT/CT/PET/MR/Optical fusion Imaging )

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and medical terminology with the analytical skills to effectively utilize knowledge towards imaging processes, techniques and procedures.

Working knowledge of Nuclear Medicine Information System (NMIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).

Ability to rely on experience, judgment and time management skills to plan and accomplish goals.

Must present a positive, team oriented attitude and a professional appearance.

Ability to adhere to safety standards set forth by the Radiology Department, BMC and other regulatory agencies.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and all/any apprehensions, to instruct students and to interact with other staff technologists.

• Monitors overall condition of patient, checking for skin changes and discoloration, and discusses with patient his/her physical condition noting changes such as nausea, sore throat and the like and determining whether it is necessary to consult physician prior to treatment.

• Inspects all equipment safety interlocks according to established procedure.

• Monitors equipment and reporting malfunctions.

• Performs related clerical and technical duties such as filing and maintaining required records, scheduling appointments, maintaining adequate supplies in treatment rooms, attending patient care conferences.

• Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.

• Fosters interpersonal relationships with patients, visitor, physicians and fellow employees in a courteous, professional and friendly manner.

• Maintains all designated hospital information confidential at all times.

• Utilizes hospital's Values as the basis for decision making and to facilitate the division's hospital mission.

• Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.

• Performs other duties as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Requires knowledge of Radiation Medicine generally acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE:

• Requires knowledge of department policies and procedures, familiarity with equipment, and proper set-up of equipment normally acquired through three to six months on-the-job training.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Requires analytical ability to determine proper set-up of equipment and patient, calculate length of treatment and detect adverse reactions to treatments.

• Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to work with others and deal effectively with patients.
