Job Description The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) shall administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients in order to enhance the evaluation of physiologic processes at a molecular level. The NMT is responsible for providing comprehensive care to the patient requiring medical imaging services in an organized and systematic manner according to department policy and standards.Performs routine and special nuclear medicine procedures.Checks technical quality of data; submits for interpretation; discusses findings with Radiologist.Enters exam data on forms/computer screens as required by protocols.Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals as needed daily and orders additional isotopes per exam requests.Ensures security in the receipt, transport and/or storage of medications to include IV solutions.Performs daily, weekly, and monthly quality control procedures on pharmacy and imaging equipment per State Radioactive License and department protocol.Takes patient history, documents for Radiologist.Explains procedures to patients.Maintains required continuing education credits per state license and registry.Participates in research and development of new methodologies and procedures.Maintains records, logs and documentations as required.Participates in on call rotation as assigned.Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.Responds to the following hospital codes: Code Red (in the immediate area). Code Pink (if called),Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:Certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology from A.M.A. approved program.Current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (C.N.M.T.) or registration as a Radiologic Technologist-Nuclear Medicine (R.T.N.M.) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) or documented experience as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.Current Maryland Licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist or eligibility.CPR certification.The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served.He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department's policies and proceduresAt least one year of experience Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
