Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Nuclear Project Manager to support our Nuclear Customers in the Greater St. Louis, MO Region. This position can be done remotely, but will require frequent travel to St. Louis (up to 50%.) The position requires well-rounded expertise in the nuclear power industry, preferably in the areas of digital control system upgrades. Experience in other heavy industrial engineering projects such as manufacturing, steel, mining, materials processing and refinery will also be considered. Orbital is evaluating candidates based upon their project management experience, technical knowledge, field experience, and engineering design skill sets.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Function as seconded Project Manager on multiple concurrent projects for nuclear power plant clients.
- Schedule, organize and direct others in the completion of activities.
- Prepare, or supervise the preparation of project schedules and cost estimates.
- Regularly utilizes client proprietary software packages to complete daily project responsibilities.
- Supervise, manage, and direct the engineering resources to complete the engineering modification package.
- Act as main point of contact for designated client projects and provide regular project updates.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with project execution procedures and guidelines as set forth in corporate Project Management System and client's standards.
- Responsible for managing contracts for procurement, services, and evaluating change orders and scope deviation.
- Manage and direct the installation through coordination with station stakeholders.
- Frequently communicate with client on projects to best determine the most cost-effective solutions.
- Provides timely and detailed documentation to ensure projects are on budget and schedule.
- Work is mostly located in the client office, with occasional field-based activities depending on project needs.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management in the electric power utility industry projects is preferred. Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering and design teams in a consulting engineering environment is preferred.Digital / I&C system upgrade experience within the nuclear power industry is preferred. Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential.Project management experience including an understanding and use of project management and project control principles and tools is required.Candidates should have a thorough understanding and aptitude in the use of current computer software including general office products, design, and business enterprise software.Education and Credentials:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline is preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of Project Management Experience is required.
- Project Management Training and/or PMP Certification a plus.
