* Job Type: Officer of Administration* Regular/Temporary: Regular* Hours Per Week: 35* Salary Range: $110,000-$115,000The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Clinical Operations and the Division Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Section of Hospital Dentistry at the College of Dental Medicine, the Nurse Coordinator provides clinical and administrative support in the OMFS teaching clinic and Faculty Practice.ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to:* Provide oversight of patient flow in the Oral Surgery Clinic.* Monitor patients throughout their procedure(s).* Prepare and start intravenous lines for sedation and administration of IV antibiotics. Assisting with patient monitoring under IV sedation or general anesthesia* Responsible for maintaining required checklist for equipment and medication related to patient care.* Order and store medication. Maintaining logs of controlled substances; conducting assessments of patients undergoing sedation in the clinic and faculty practices.* Evaluate patient schedules, lab records, and related imaging reports. Document aspects of care in the patient's need, problem, capabilities, and limitations as reflective of plan of care and response to the care in the EPIC Chart.* Support annual and quarterly medical emergency scenario preparations.* Develop or run reports to track clinic activity.* Provide coverage in other practice sites, as needed.* The Nurse Coordinator will serve as the Safety and Compliance Officer for the OMFS Clinic.* Will organize and maintain crash carts and emergency supplies and response team throughout the Vanderbilt Dental Clinics.* Will participate as a member of the infection control committee* Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, Billing Compliance and safety guidelines.* Ensures service excellence and adherence to the Statement of Ethical Conduct and the Administrative Code of Conduct.* Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 3 years of relevant work experience.* R.N. or B.S. in Nursing with NYS license and at least three (3) years of experience in recovery room, critical care or emergency room preferred. Experience in phlebotomy and starting (IV) lines for sedation and antibiotics required.Preferred Qualifications* Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.* HIPAA certification and strict adherence to confidentiality required.* Experience in outpatient care*Other Requirements* Must be fluent in Spanish, both written and verbal.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranColumbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
