The Nurse Informatics Specialist partners with the Clinical leader team, Clinical Education, and the IT department using an end-user centric focus to support field staff and managers to optimize use of, efficiency, and effectiveness of the EMR and other clinical platforms to promote improvement in patient care, user satisfaction, and quality patient outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Nurse Informatics Specialist:
The Nurse Informatics Specialist designs and implements education and training on devices and applications for clinical staff and managers- assumes role of EMR content expert and promotes super user expertise across clinical departments.
Designs and delivers education and training to patients and caregivers in the field for technology such as telehealth and virtual visits.
Acts as the liaison between the agency and the EMR vendor for clinical enhancement and EMR development requests.
Contributes to ongoing agency efforts as it relates to designing, analyzing, testing, and implementing clinical technology platforms.
Partners with IT lead to coordinate formal group review of EMR release notes and plans for implementation of optional functionality.
Partners with IT lead to create defined testing strategy for all EMR updates and new releases.
Participates in the IT change management process group.
Promotes the use of evidence-based practice and workflow standardization.
Creates a support structure for the clinical departments that enhances technology adoption and efficiencies.
Works closely with the Director of Quality and Analytics team to promote data driven decision making.
Once trained, will assist with assessment and pathway builder function within the EMR as needed.
Qualifications for the Clinical Informatics Specialist:
Education/Certification
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN or LPN licensure in the State of NY
ANCC Nursing Informatics Certification preferred
Valid NYS drivers license and vehicle for use during the workday
Minimum Qualifications/Experience
Minimum of 1 Year of experience in Clinical Informatics
Experience with Go Live Support, Clinical Implementation and Change Management Process preferred
