Job Description:
General Responsibilities: The Nurse is responsible for the identification, management and resolution of health problems of individuals in the school program. In addition, this person will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of individual health care appropriate to the ages and populations served. The Nurse maintains operational aspects of assigned individual heath care areas and works collaboratively with the other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team. This position supports Melmark Carolinas mission to serve children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injury, neurological diseases and disorders, comorbid mental health disorders and severe challenging behaviors. It is required that employees demonstrate their understanding of that service mission through their work behavior and commitment to the students and the staff who are directly involved in the delivery of that service.Schedule: Monday- Friday day shiftStarting Rate: $30.33/hour (+) based on years of experienceBasic Qualifications:Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; Registered Nurse considered. Certifications/Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the North Carolina Board of Nursing. A valid US driver's license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status. Must meet North Carolina background check requirements. Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and Melmark's Orientation Program and New Hire Onsite training program.Skill(s): Strong general nursing skills with emphasis on the care of individuals who are emotionally, behaviorally, neurologically or developmentally disabled. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a developmental disabilities setting with minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.Interrelationships: Interacts with all members of the multidisciplinary treatment team as required for the individual.
