Virtus Healthcare Staffing seeks a dedicated Nurse Manager in the Emergency Department to join our partner, a Hospital in Geneva, NY. This is a unique opportunity for a qualified and experienced professional to lead and ensure the delivery of uncompromising quality and exceptional patient safety.

Position Summary:The Nurse Manager is responsible for implementing strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety, and an outstanding patient/family experience. The Nurse Manager fosters an environment that encourages staff development, empowerment, and best practices in nursing care. Responsibilities include resource allocation, interdisciplinary collaboration, recruitment, and retention of personnel, as well as supervision of the Emergency Department, SSH Clinical Leaders, and the Medic 55 ALS Program.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum: Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program, with a Masters in Nursing or a related field.

License:

  • Minimum: Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Professional Certifications:

  • Minimum: BLS, ACLS, PALS (through the RQI system during clinical orientation).
  • Basic Coronary Care within 6 months of hire.
  • CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
  • TNCC is required within 18 months of hire.
  • Preferred: Certified Emergency Nursing within one year.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum: 3-4 years experience as an RN in an Emergency Department and at least one year of experience as a Nurse Manager.

Skills:

  • Minimum:
    • Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
    • Knowledge of management systems and processes.
    • Ability to establish effective work relationships to lead others toward organizational goals.
    • Strong analytical skills for assessing departmental needs, developing and implementing interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness.
    • Proficiency in project management, meeting deadlines, managing multiple priorities, and enhancing teamwork through role modeling.
    • Familiarity with The Joint Commission requirements.
    • Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Meditech.
