About the Job:

The Orthopedic Nurse Navigator (ONN) will serve as an expert in providing comprehensive orthopedic care and education to patients across the care continuum. The ONN will develop, manage and maintain all orthopedic patient education material. (Print, digital and classroom) The ONN will partner with nursing and other disciplines throughout the organization to develop appropriate orthopedic staff education. The ONN will collaborate with multidisciplinary orthopedic health team members to facilitate an effective patient transition to independence, to increase the patients' and caregivers' ability to manage their care leading to optimized patient outcomes. The ONN will collect patient reported outcome measures and other data for quality reporting, participate in data analysis, utilizing PDSA to respond to opportunities to improve orthopedic care. The ONN will be a key member of the Orthopedic Quality Committee leading to maintain AMC's Certification as an Orthopedic Center of Excellence by monitoring compliance with the DNV standards.

Applies the nursing process to maximize the health status of the patients of Ashland Medical Center, within the parameters of hospital policy and the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act. Under general direction, develops, implements, evaluates, and manages the care and education of patients; supervises day-to-day activities of patient care within specific specialty; performs assessments of patients; attends educational in-services, and assists with procedures as needed.

Assures adherence to Ashland Medical Center policies and procedures, supports and fosters the mission and vision of Ashland Medical Center. Accountable for the quality of care provided to patients and the processes that lead to continuous performance improvement. The position includes clinical practice, staff development, continuing education, and leadership.

Requirements:

* Licensed as an RN in the State of Wisconsin.

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing and professional certification are preferred.

* Minimum of five years of experience as a registered nurse in a hospital or orthopedic clinic setting.

* Must be able to read and comprehend written materials of a complex level such as contracts, government regulations and other agency requirements written in English.

* Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing including the ability to make effective group presentations in English.

* Must be able to comprehend and make mathematical computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and statistical applications.

* Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and clinical documentation systems pertinent to role. Effectively uses internet resources to enhance role.

* Must demonstrate advanced knowledge in the specialty of Orthopedics and Orthopedic nursing as well as adult education skills.

* Must have experience in collecting and analyzing patient outcome measures for quality reporting and be familiar with the PDSA method to improve orthopedic care.

* Demonstrates ability in problem solving, conflict resolution, and other leadership behaviors.

* Understanding of Peri-Anesthesia requirements for the pre-operative optimization of surgical patients.

Licensure or Certification:

* Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin.

* Orthopedic certification within 1 year of hire.

* Basic Life Support (BLS).

Shift Time: 8- hour shifts (standard business hours)
