FT/ 80 hours per pay

General Summary/Responsibilities:

The Obstetrics/ Gynecologic Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes. The RN is responsible for seeing that patients receive treatment services that are timely, appropriate and comprehensive. This is accomplished through identification of patients' needs and working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team across the in-patient and out-patient continuum of care. The RN supports patient/family education, monitors the recommended treatment plan, and sees that appropriate follow up occurs in the outpatient setting. The RN also monitors identified quality measures and works with the multi-disciplinary team to reach expected outcomes. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.

Nurse navigators primarily focus on the clinical aspects of a patient's care in their respective healthcare facilities. Often, they help patients navigate their way to quality and timely care while explaining and responding to questions related to the treatment process. Becoming a nurse navigator requires a certain level of education, skills and experience to do it successfully. Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree

Valid Ohio RN license

Current CPR certification required at the time of hire.

Certification in area of specialty preferred

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: OB/GYN nursing, dependent upon highest level of degree obtained

Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A

Preferred experience: Obstetrics nursing - dependent upon highest level of degree obtained

Other experience requirements: 2 years of Obstetrics experience required.
