Responsibilities The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is a130-bed facility with inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. BASIC FUNCTION; Serves as an advanced practice nurse in the area of psychiatric mental health nursing working in both direct and indirect patient care activities. Direct care functions include providing physical and psychiatric assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management services. Indirect care functions include assuming role as a researcher, consultant person, liaison, and educator. Prescriptive authority is accomplished through collaboration with a psychiatrist. Assures provision of nursing care in accordance with the DC Mental Health Regulations, accreditation standards, licensing rules and regulations, legal aspects, hospital policies/procedures, and standards of nursing care and practice. Documents all clinical activities according to policy. Qualifications Must be an RN, licensed to practice in the District of Columbia. Work requires advanced practice nursing knowledge. Holds a Nurse Practitioner Specialty License issued by the District of Columbia. Must be able to be covered under PIW's professional liability plan. Must meet and maintain credentialing requirements and maintain membership to PIW's Hospital's Medical Staff. E-VERIFY Statement PIW participates in E-Verify.
