The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be available to meet the medical assessment and treatment needs of each resident according to the Part 820 Regulations.Responsibilities
- Functions independently to perform history and physical examinations for program residents.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to resident's needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including psychiatric stability if so certified to do so.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Facilitates the patient's transition within and between level of care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
- Is available on-call to review the medical assessments completed by medical staff in order to respond to immediate crises for residents.
Requirements
- Must be an unrestricted New York State licensed Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
- Have a minimum of three years' experience with at least one year of experience in the recovery (addictions and/or mental illness) or human services fields preferred.
- Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner must satisfy physician collaboration requirements.
- Must possess a New York State driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
