Pay $125,000 - $145,000 annually The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) for Community Health and Behavioral Services (CHBS) works under the direction of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Medical Director. This position provides medical and psychiatric care as part of an integrated behavioral healthcare model, treating mental health and substance use disorder (SUD). The Psychiatric NP for CCBHC is responsible for: providing medical and psychiatric care, to include Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT), conducting Psychiatric Evaluations, providing treatment recommendations, ordering appropriate lab-work, providing pharmacological management as clinically appropriate, collaborating with the supervising psychiatrist and members of the Treatment Team, utilizing established best practice protocols, consulting with Primary Therapists, clinical staff, psychiatric nursing staff, families and significant others.Core Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Psychiatric and SUD evaluations for the purposes of providing clinical treatment, treatment recommendations, and consultations.
- Provide psychiatric and SUD care through diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve behavioral health status.
- Provide Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) as part of the CHBS Chemical Dependency Out-Patient Treatment Program.
- Attain and maintain waiver to prescribe Suboxone/buprenorphine.
- Order medication and labs appropriate to clinical practice, interpret and evaluate lab results.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists consistent with established practices.
- Initiates medical or nursing orders; interprets nursing and clinical assessments; implements advancements in patient care.
- Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff as assigned.
- Performs assessment of the environmental status of the community and its impact on health
- Provide integrated treatment with the CHBS Treatment Team, including consults, joint treatment plan reviews, and case reviews.
- Reviews, evaluates and documents client response to care; assesses client medical/nursing educational needs and provides both formal and informal teaching.
- Supports staff effort to assess and triage patients for levels of psychological functioning and risk.
- Provide in-service training to clinical staff at CHBS and other divisions as needed.
- Participates in Quality Improvement and Utilization Management programs and activities.
- Maintain all training requirements and credentials as required by the Agency, NYS Department of Education, medical and psychiatric affiliations and regulatory agencies and participates in a continuing education program designed by the Psychiatrist/Medical Director.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards
Qualifications
- Possess all appropriate coursework and credentials consistent with New York State Education Department requirements for the designation of Nurse Practitioner.
- Current New York State License as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry (NPP) preferred;
- current NY state license as a Family Nurse Practitioner with specialized skillset considered.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver's License.
