Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Department and in clinical collaboration with a physician, the Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive health care, determines and delivers primary care, engages in health and mental health screening and disease prevention. Supervision, consultation and teaching/training maybe provided to nursing, counseling, and other health care professionals. The Nurse Practitioner will support the Asthma Program, Smoking Cessation, Pulmonary, Lung Cancer Screening Program as well as assist with inpatient consults.QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:Master of Science Degree in Nursing with an accredited Nurse Practitioner curriculum and three years of nursing experience.ORGraduation from an accredited school of professional nursing, and from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in a health related field and certification as a Nurse Practitionerfrom an accredited program and, in addition, three years of nursing experience.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes:Thorough knowledge of current nursing techniques and procedures; through Knowledge of the New York State Practice Act, the American Nurses Association Standards and the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospital Standards, particularly as they apply to the Nurse Practitioner, knowledge of the principles of patient education; ability to collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals in the development of primary health care.Credentials Required:Current valid license to practice nursing in New York StateCertification as ANP, FNP or PNP with prescriptive privileges by New York StateANA certification in Adult or Family Practice preferred
