IMC is currently hiring a Part-time NursePractitioner (NP) (Pulmonology Clinic), under the immediatesupervision of the Physician Practice Manager and with the authority ofthe Chief Nursing Officer. The NursePractitioner applies the nursing process, effectively interacting with patientsand other health team members, while maintaining standards of Advanced NursePractice. WORK HOURS:
- Part time: 56-71 hours per pay period
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: - Master's level preparation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current license to practice as an APRN in the State of Louisiana is required.
- Current national certification by a national organization recognized by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing is required.
- CPR Certification must be up to date prior to completion or orientation and assuming the position
PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, ANDRESPONSIBILITIES - Demonstrates respectfor patients and families
- Maintains and protectsconfidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Applies the nursingprocess to each patient and implements nursing actions.
- Identifies patient andfamily education needs and in collaboration with other disciplines, initiateseducation needs according to the age of the patient.
- Participates inplanning of patients' discharge needs and readiness for discharge.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
- Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations.
- Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or hands-on training and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral
- Functions as apositive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of IberiaMedical Center.

- Considers age-related and psycho-social needs as well as physical needs in establishing plan of care.
- Orders age-appropriate medications, lab tests, radiological studies and other referrals on each patient seen. Provides age-appropriate patient teaching as an integral part of the plan of care for each patient.
- Properly utilizes and maintains patient care equipment and supplies.
- Assists LPN and Billing Clerk as necessary.
- Maintains open communication with all team members, demonstrating adaptability, supportive team work and problem resolution.
- Recognizes emergency situations and responds appropriately.
- Follows the policies and procedures of the Hospital and Clinic.
