Union: Non Union Status: Full timeSchedule: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Coordinates and conducts technical and professional recruiting for positions within nursing. Develops and implements recruitment strategies that are proactive and in response to needs identified by Hurley Medical Center. Coordinates and works to maintain an effective, successful and seamless hiring process. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior.Works under the direction of the Recruitment Manager, who reviews work assignments for compliance with applicable recruitment laws, contractual language, policies, and procedures.Responsibilities
Executes recruitment of personnel by writing online job postings, and social media. Contacts recruitment sources for qualified applicants. Conducts interviews, screens, and evaluates applications.Attends career fairs, open houses and seminars. Maintains networking contacts with key nursing school placement directors, alumni associations, local societies, organizations, annual conferences and conventions to maximize sourcing of top quality candidates.Assists in the coordination of on-site recruitment events.Facilitates in partnership with Nursing Leadership the processes of the Nursing Extern program. Collaborates with internal customers, e.g. senior nursing administration, nurse managers, directors and department heads, nursing staff, Human Resource employment and benefits staff, labor relations, union leaders and representatives to ensure recruitment of qualified nursing personnel and facilitate filling of vacancies within nursing.Tracks and verifies outcomes of graduate nurse exams and receipt of licensure to ensure appropriate pay rate.Tracks open positions within nursing. Frequently follows-up with departments/managers regarding posting and filling of vacancies to ensure use of appropriate contractual processes.Maintains communication with all prospective and active applicants, including written, telephone and electronic methodologies.Reviews applicant qualifications/criteria for eligibility for preferred positions. Schedules, conducts and scores preferred position oral interview panels.Certifies eligible candidates, creates eligibility lists, and makes official offers of employment.Coordinates pre-employment activities including completion of required verifications and reference checking, determining salary, scheduling of orientation, lab work, notification of acceptance and start dates to managers, notification of status to new hire.Assists current nursing staff seeking new/different opportunities at HMC. Counsels them regarding their interests/needs and identifies potential available options and opportunities, as appropriate. Facilitates contact with other departments/managers as appropriate.Compiles and analyzes data regarding application and hiring statistics.Provides union contract interpretations and answers questions regarding HMC policy and personnel procedures; conducts employee exit interviews and compiles and analyzes results.Participates in internal/external organizations, committees and meetings.Performs other related work as required. Utilizes new improvements and/or technologies that relate to job assignment.Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
- Three (3) years experience as a recruiter with at least two (2) years in a health care related field, or three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience in HR work involving recruitment, interviewing and job evaluation desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of pertinent laws relative to the unionization and the collective bargaining process.
- Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity provisions and other federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Ability to compile and analyze data, submit data in report form, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Ability to speak and write effectively and to otherwise communicate with the public and the employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other HMC employees, job applicants, and the general public.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Current Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse, preferred.
