We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. PROGRAM BACKGROUND:The children in our START with Hope program are in the U.S. as children whose parents/guardians are not physically with them. Many of our children have fled dangerous and violent situations in their own home countries, including but not limited to Central and South America. Most of our children have suffered devastating losses through trauma, violence, abandonment, poverty, substance abuses, or abuse. The children's safety, nutritional, medical, emotional health and education are our top priorities.POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the RN will be responsible in providing the best possible nursing care to the residents. Shifts assigned may vary and change according to Agency needs. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse (RN) and License Practical Nurse (LPN) license is required.BSN preferred.Current CPR certificationCourses in Child Abuse Identification and Infection Control.1+ years of related work experience with children and/or familiesExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Proficiency in Microsoft Word and OutlookAbility to engage with clients.Understanding and willingness to commit to the agency's Mission, core values, Sanctuary Commitments and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct Physical Health Assessments for Infants, Children, Adolescents, including HIV Risk Assessments, Initial Nursing assessments, Safety Assessments, General First Aid and Triage ActivitiesComplete nursing assessments within 24 hours of admission to document Medical NecessityRoutine Screening for Substance Abuse, Developmental Health, Mental health, Physical Body Checks for Signs of AbuseRoutine management and training regarding chronic conditions (Asthma, Diabetes)Training and Health Education related to Sexual Reproductive HealthMedication Administration and Management ReconciliationExecute medical orders (tests, tasks, hospitalizations, etc.) as ordered by physicianEnsure required documentation for all case actions (medical notes) are completed within established timeframes. Take vital signs, heights, and weights; document observations and activities Provide immunizations.Provide first aid and emergency care as needed.Obtain certain lab specimens.Administer hearing and vision tests.Accept medication deliveries, check for accuracy, store safely.Execute medical orders (tests, tasks, hospitalizations, etc.) as ordered by physician.Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and staff.
