Newly hired, full-time, Registered Nurses will receive a $3,000 Sign On Bonus within their 1st year of active, full-time employment!Position Description - Registered NurseUnder the general supervision of the Director of Health Services, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing total nursing inpatient care to residents, by Agency's established philosophy. The Registered Nurse maintains satisfactory relations with other departments and relates effectively with other shifts to provide a continuity of care. The Registered Nurse facilitates positive resident responses to normal development; promotes health and safety; intervenes with actual and potential health problems; provides case management services; and actively collaborates with others to build adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy; and learning. Essential Functions:
- Provides direct and indirect care given to the residents in compliance with agency policies, professional standards, scope of practice, practitioner's orders, and state and federal guidelines.
- Participates in the admission process. Nursing assessment is based on interview, examination, observation and review of records of the resident.
- Provides nursing assessment, triage, first aid and treatment to residents seen in the clinic for routine and emergency care.
- Oversight and administration of vaccinations in accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Provides/delegates comprehensive nursing care for residents in the infirmary.
- Transcribes medical orders. Processes medication from pharmacy, administers and documents medications and treatments.
- Checks and maintains emergency equipment.
- Provides health education as needed.
- Communicates resident's medical needs and interventions to appropriate medical and cottage staff.
- Supports orientation of new medical staff.
- Assumes responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral activities for the residents.
- Always maintains the required level of professionalism in practice at the agency and abides by the HIPAA Privacy Act and Confidentiality Policy of the facility.
- Acts as a liaison between the infirmary and other departments.
- Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
- Prepares, administers, and records medication by practitioner's orders and departmental policy regarding administration of medication.
- Participates in orientation and in-service training as assigned.
- Participates in agency safety programs as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited School of Nursing with current and valid NYS Board of Nursing License.
- CPR Certified.
- One to three years of experience working with adolescents is a plus.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- Must be resourceful and calm in emergencies.
- A high degree of initiative with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have tact, discretion, and experience handling sensitive and confidential information, while maintaining a professional approach.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
