- Obtains and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximeter), weight, height, intake and outake and informs the Registered Nurse of findings.
- Prepares patient for examination and/or special procedures and remains with patient during procedure if needed.
- Observes patient's condition, mental state and social behavior and report observations to the Registered Nurse.
- Prepares patient for meals and assists with feeding if necessary. Distributes nutritional supplements to patients and records on intake & output sheets.
- Assists and accompanies patient in admitting, discharges and transfer processes, assuring comfort and safety.
- Assist patient in activities of daily living.
- Transports and accompanies patient to and from unit when necessary.
- Keeps unit, utility rooms, treatment rooms and storage rooms in a neat and orderly condition. Keeps dressing cart and clean utility room well stocked with supplies at times. Checks supplies for expiration dates, including surgical supplies.
- Performs AM and PM care.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Designee.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from elementary school.
- Successful completion of a basic skills training program for Nurse Aides, or its equivalent.
