Nursing Assistant Apprentice Position SummaryThe Nursing Assistant Apprentice is a student currently enrolled in an approved CNA program who is employed in a non-certified capacity under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse and a certified nursing assistant. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Responsibilities
- Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs and changes bed linens
- May serve and collect food trays, provide for between-meal nourishment, and clean, sterilize, store and prepare other supplies
- Completes duties based on the level of training in CNA program
- Works under immediate supervision
- Demonstrates and adheres to the Kootenai Health Code of Conduct and Ethics
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be enrolled in a state approved CNA Program by Kootenai Health Orientation program
- Certification required within 90 days of date of hire
- BLS required
Working Conditions
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
- Must be able to assist in patient transfer
