GENERAL SUMMARY
Understand and apply Ascension's mission statement by administering direct and indirect nursing care to the patients assigned under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), according to hospital policy. Actively support and participate in the activities of the unit. Specific duties shall be assigned according to department and the care delivery system of the unit.
+ Essential Functions
+ Assist, under direction of the RN, in providing basic patient care duties including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, patient hygiene activities, feeding and bathing of patients, and post-mortem care. Perform activities of daily living appropriate to the patient's condition.
+ Administer, under direction of the RN, basic treatments to patient including, but not limited to, preparing special procedure set-up, I & O measurement, collection of urine and stools, application of cold/heat packs. Perform Glucose monitoring.
+ Provide unit support by responding to call lights within 2-5 minutes, passing water and linens, locating equipment, stocking supplies, cleaning and other non-clinical duties assigned by the RN.
+ Assist in the transportation of patients. Assists in transporting specimens to the lab and collection of blood and blood products from Blood Bank. Obtains and delivers pharmacy orders as needed.
+ Non-Essential Functions
+ Adhere to safety and infection control precautions.
+ Maintain current BLS certification, mandatory continuing education and mandatory competencies.
+ Demonstrate and actively promote an understanding and commitment to the mission of Ascension through performing behaviors consistent with the Ascension Standards of Performance and Code of Ethics.
+ Promote a positive work environment as evidenced by quality service and positive staff attitudes.
+ The Nursing Assistant shall have access to and disclose personal health information only when reasonably necessary to perform the designated job related responsibilities. Disclosure and/or use of personal health information for any purpose other than as reasonably necessary for designated job responsibilities is prohibited.
+ Perform other duties as assigned and needed. Additional duties may include non-clinical duties consistent with meeting the needs of the patient care team and unit operations.
+ This position requires the ability to identify age related differences within the persons served and the adjustment of treatment style and expectations as appropriate, including adjustments based on the person's served cognitive function and learning ability. This will include taking into account their religious and cultural needs and preferences.
Schedule: Full Time, Days. 36 hrs. 7a-730p. Every 3rd weekend
