The NAI performs duties, such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients or changing linens.*Qualifications **EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS ** High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina (NC) Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant course. *PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT ** None required. *LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION ** Certified by the N. C. Department of Facility Services as a NAI. BCLS Certification. *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS** Good interpersonal, communication and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups. *WORK ENVIRONMENT ** Exposure to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, and other infectious diseases requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other hazards, such as radiation, toxic waste, chemical hazards based on the departments. Possible exposure to conditions, such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT ** Standing, sitting, walking and working throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning and pushing patients daily. Ability to use appropriate Safe-Patient Handling equipment. Visual acuity, auditory and verbal skills necessary.
