Nursing Attendant A Brief Overview Under professional nursing direction, provides patient transport, assists in establishing and maintaining a clean and safe environment. What you will do Transports patients in a timely fashion between floors and/or departments, following established protocols, using stretchers or wheelchairs to ensure safe arrival. # Assists with patient transfer, admission and discharge of patients as directed. # Lifts, position and transports patients utilizing proper technique and equipment. # Accompanies and remains with patient for clinical test or procedures in other departments/areas. # Transports charts, specimens, records, equipment and supplies to and from department in a safe and timely manner. Delivers patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures including but not limited to: # Transports blood products. # Provide assistance to patients needing help with ADLs # Provides required one-on-one observation and monitoring (sitter) to patients to ensure their safety and prevention of injury. # Reports any unusual changes in the patient#s condition or behavior to patient#s PCC. Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance Policies). Responds appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel. Responsible for cleaning, restocking and preparation of patient care and supply areas/rooms (includes supplies, equipment, beds). # Maintains equipment and supplies in preparation for various procedures performed by physicians, nurses and other staff members. # Cleans equipment after use and returns to proper storage area when no longer needed. This includes beds, wheelchairs, monitoring equipment utilized within department. # Terminal cleaning of operating rooms and prepares treatment rooms by changing sheets and pillow cases, restocking supply cupboards with linen, alcohol, spray, tissues, caps, etc. # Assists with restocking patient care and supply areas/rooms. Works effectively as a team member within department and with customers to provide quality service to hospital units through communication, cooperation and collaboration. # Delivers equipment and supplies throughout the hospital by responding to orders quickly and efficiently in order to support the daily operations of the unit. # Performs miscellaneous errands such as stocking supplies, delivering test results, picking up supplies, and the like. # Assists clinical personnel when needed by performing tasks to prepare for clinical procedures to keep department operating at peak efficiency levels. Maintains a clean, orderly, safe environment for in direct and indirect patient care areas. Adheres to established policies, compliance/quality improvement, and patient safety, environment and infection control standards. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Provides coverage for relief and absences as required.
