Position Summary:The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring 24/7 hospital operations. Handles nursing staffing, patient admissions/placement and assignments, and provides clinical expertise and nursing leadership to the staff. Duties/Responsibilities:•Performs and enhances professional behaviors in self and in others.•Makes decisions based on analysis of facts, critical thinking and best practice and identified expected outcomes.•Demonstrates the attributes of a transformational leader.•Exhibits competencies in communication, professional clinical practice and conflict management.•Contributes to the improvement and excelling of a consistent patient centered care.•Participates in professional development activities for the advancement of self.•Demonstrates credibility and knowledge of the goals, performance of nursing skills, and mission of the nursing department.•Inspires others to meet role expectation with excellence in provision of nursing care.•Performs all nursing skills and procedures according to established criteria of competent practice.•Complies with safety regulations and use of equipment for patient care •Demonstrates proficient use of informatics and technology utilized in nursing service.•Delegates tasks appropriately to other personnel.•Assesses learning needs of the staff for the improvement of patient and family care needs.•Interprets policies and procedures and coordinates all activities of patient care.•Assists in evaluation of nursing service and personnel performance.•Provides leadership and direction in changing and crisis situation.•Acts as liaison for St. Claire Medical Center administration, nursing, personnel, and community.•Manages conflicting demands from physicians, outside entities, and hospital staff. •Must possess the ability to handle staff and physician daily demands of managing a large healthcare enterprise. •Stays in constant communication with staff, patients, outside entities and leadership. •Provides direct clinical care based on the shift worked, i.e. rapid responses, codes, etc. as required.Required Skills/Abilities: •Strong leadership skills •Visionary interdisciplinary team building skills•Problem solving skills•Critical thinking skills Education:Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher, Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferredExperience: Minimum of seven years nursing experience preferred in an acute care setting and nursing leadership experience preferredLicensure/Certification: Valid Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) licensePhysical/Work Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
