District-wide: schools located in Bethel, Danbury, Torrington and Plymouth Position is open until filled For over 20 years, EdAdvance has partnered with area school districts in Litchfield and Fairfield counties to provide cost effective, specialized educational, behavioral, and diagnostic services for students with social, emotional, and behavioral conditions that significantly impact their ability to learn. Superior quality, personalized learning and behavioral programs are provided in an inclusive and engaging environment. Our skilled team collaborates closely with students, families, and districts to design a comprehensive plan that addresses the educational, social-emotional, and transitional needs of each student. Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to provide both direct, school based nursing services and to manage the district's nursing practices, supplies and needs. Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure alignment of district policy and procedures with Connecticut Department of Public Health and Connecticut State Department of Education
- Consult with school staff, students and families regarding health and wellness issues
- Provide required training for school staff in CPR, First Aid, Epi and Narcan administration, Medication Administration and individualized student care plans
- Supervise other school nurses who are also working within the special education schools
- Attend to students referred for illness or injury
- Review student Health Assessement Records for completeness and compliance
- Other duties as may be assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Recent experience as a nurse in a school setting, preferred
- Interest in working with students with trauma and challenging behaviors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability or urgency
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current CT License as a Registered Nurse
- Certified Instructor for First Aid, CPR and AED
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job
- Reliable transportation to commute across the district is required (mileage reimbursement is applicable)
