DescriptionJOB SUMMARYMaintains the accounting and financial records for the nursing home government program. Prepares, processes, and reports on financial transactions of the nursing home accounting departments as needed. Maintains proper cash controls, entries, and fiscal accounting procedures. Reconciles daily deposits, maintains cash account logs, reconciles all bank statements, and transfers funds to each nursing home cash account. Works under the direction of the Nursing Home Accounting Team Lead and reports to the Accounting Supervisor under the Controller. Non-Exempt position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides auditors with all applicable data to ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Completes and/or reviews all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks/reports, such as daily journal entries, check registry, bank reconciliations, ACH transfers, and all other tasks/reports as requested management.
  • Reconciles Nursing Home IGT receivables and Nursing Home program revenue against the general ledger and ensures transfers of funds to appropriate nursing home facilities are completed timely
  • Prepares miscellaneous billing statements for bank charges and other billable items.
  • Acts as liaison with nursing facility's administrative management and business office staff and UMH.
  • Reviews and understands management/lease contracts between nursing facility and UMH
  • Records required data into missed payments tracking worksheets/tool to ensure accurate record keeping and consults with other hospital departments to obtain and verify billing information and timely follows up for appropriate nursing home facilities and UCHA hospital and ambulatory departments.
  • Attends HHSC and other training and implements changes needed to stay in compliance and current on trends related to QIPP and all other payor/billing regulations.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of federal and state regulations, payer requirements for the Nursing Home facilities.
  • Performs additional duties as requested
POSITION REQUIREMENTSMinimum Education High School Diploma or GED required.College hours and or an Associates in Accounting or Business preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in accounting, preferably in a healthcare setting.Required SkillsMust possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service. Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook. FUNCTIONAL DEMANDSFunctional Job Requirements: Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary. Job also requires travel to each Nursing home. Lifting RequirementsJob requires medium lifting on an occasional basis.
