Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks) Essential Job Functions:
  • In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division and submit to the Division Chair or appropriate Administrators for review.
  • Teach classes assigned by the Division Chair and approved by the Vice President following course outlines approved by the college.
  • In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare textbook recommendation and submit to the Division Chair for review.
  • Prepare requests for the purchase of new library books and materials as needed and submit these requests to the Division Chair for review.
  • Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the institution.
  • Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
  • Cooperate in the promotion of extra curricular activities by accepting reasonable assignments and encouraging student participation.
  • Serve on committees for the betterment of the College and Nursing programs as may be established by the administration and faculty.
  • Consider the general and special needs of the student.Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary seek additional help from other college services.
  • Observe support and enforce the regulations policies and programs of the college and inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the college.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Notify the appropriate Administrator well in advance of absences.
  • Advise students assigned by student services.
  • Focus upon student recruitment retention and success.
  • Show an understanding of the community college philosophy including its unique ties to the workforce and its district.
  • Work as a member of a team.
  • Participate in development activities and maintain current perspectives in class presentations.
  • Develop assess and maintain data for course and program assessment.
  • Perform ongoing assessment to meet College and Program standards.
  • Participate in National Accrediatation activities
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Specific Functional Job Requirements Education Requirements:
    • Master's degree in Nursing Education or a related advanced practice nursing program preferred,Minimum of Bachelor degree with written plan to complete MSN within 2 year period of employment.Current Illinois license to practice professional nursing.Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and two years experience in clinical nursing practice.
    Experience Requirements:Two years experience in clinical nursing practice.Knowledge:Curriculum development,assessment,community college philosophy and population.Skills:Must be clinically competent in patient centered care for nursing.Personal Requirements:Versatility,positive attitude,enthusiasm.EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SUMMARYFACULTY(For specific details, please refer to summary plan documents and/or the faculty contract.)Sick HoursFull-time faculty employees earn 88 hours of sick time per academic year. If a faculty employee works during the summer, an additional 16 hours will be given. Hours are received at the beginning of each academic year. Sick time can be taken in hourly increments. Academic Support faculty receive 112 hours of sick leave per year, loaded monthly.Personal HoursFull-time faculty earn 24 hours of personal time each academic year. For employees who begin in the middle of an academic year, hours will be prorated. Personal time can be used in half-day increments (Forty-hour work week employees may use in hourly increments). Any unused personal time will be transferred to sick leave at the end of the academic year (August 31). Vacation Hours-(Academic Support Faculty Only)Academic Support Faculty will receive 20 hours of vacation days per year. This will be loaded at a rate of 13.34 hours per month.Tuition WaiverLake Land College offers tuition waivers for credit courses to current full-time employees, employee's spouse or civil union partner, and their unmarried dependents under age 23. Any fees associated with the classes are the responsibility of the employee. Tuition ReimbursementFull-time employees are entitled to a tuition reimbursement of $200 per credit hour with a maximum of $1200 a fiscal year to advance their education with a baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral degree. Reimbursement is available for courses in which a grade of C or better is received with verification through official transcripts.RetirementLake Land College employees are members of the State Universities Retirement System (SURS). In addition, all SURS eligible employees will be auto-enrolled in the SURS Deferred Compensation (457b) plan at 3%. (403)b/457(b) Retirement Savings PlansLake Land College offers a voluntary 403(b) plan and a 457(b) plan. Employees have the option of choosing from a variety of investment funds and can contribute on a pre-tax or post-tax basis. Employees can elect to enroll in a 403(b) and 457(b) plan at any time. The College offers an Employer Match of up to 3% of your gross salary based on certain criteria. Employees will be automatically enrolled in the SURS/Voya 457 plan, with the ability to opt out. Please refer to Board Policies 05.38 and 05.22 for criteria and guidelines.Life and AD&D InsuranceLake Land College provides full-time faculty employees with $40,000 in life and AD&D insurance. Employees may also elect to purchase additional supplemental insurance for themselves, as well as spouse or civil union partner, and their dependent children. Spouses and dependents cannot exceed the amount of the employee's optional benefit.Voluntary BenefitsLake Land College provides full-time administrators with $40,000 in life and AD&D insurance ($50,000 is provided for Vice Presidents). Employees may also elect to purchase additional supplemental insurance for themselves, as well as spouse or civil union partner, and their dependent children. Spouses and dependents cannot exceed the amount of the employee's optional benefit.Flexible Spending AccountFull-time employees can elect through payroll deduction to establish a flexible spending account for qualified medical or dependent care expenses incurred during the plan year. These elections are made on a pre-tax basis to save the employee federal and state income taxes. Employees enrolled on a medical flexible spending account can carry over up to $500 from one plan year to the next.Medical InsuranceLake Land College offers two health plan options -a traditional PPO health plan and one High Deductible health plan with a compatible Health Savings Account. Employees can elect coverage for their dependents defined as a spouse, civil union partner, or child under the age of 26. Dependent verification is required. An HSA account is only available if a HDHP, or Plan B is chosen. Lake Land contributes an amount equal to the difference in premiums between Plan A and Plan B. For 2025, this amount is $316.76/month for single coverage, $316.76/month for employee+1 coverage, and $316.76/month for family coverage.
