Bachelor of Science in Nursing2. Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a registered professional nurse OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date4. Obtain certification in Care set coding through UDS within 6 months of hire dateEXPERIENCE:1. Two (2) years clinical experience required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. Preferred Certification in area of Specialty/Certified Rehabilitation Nurse or pursuing Rehabilitation Nurse certification2. One (1) year of experience in acute inpatient rehabilitationCORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Conducts initial and on-going rounds throughout the day communicating with Medical Director PMR, Residents, Director of Acute Inpatient Rehab Unit, charge RNs, staff RN, clinical assistants, unit clerk to ensure patient care and rehabilitation stay goes as planned.2. Develops and reviews Nursing schedule in advance to meet admission, discharge and census level needs. Reviews and provides immediate potential staff training needs, equipment, implants, and other specialty items.3. Expedites AM shift report and hand off for on-time starts to patient's day including therapy schedule, AM discharges and room turnover and timely admits for patient throughput.4. Participates in the annual capital equipment planning process.5. Partners with SPD, Supply Chain Operations, nursing departments, and physician offices to ensure patient care needs are met.6. Following Healthcare Industry Representative and policies/procedures, monitors vendors in the patient care areas.7. Participates in inventory management by adjusting PAR levels, monitoring for expired products, revising custom packs, and performing value analysis functions seeking potential cost savings/containment.8. Facilitates the nursing unit's education plan and activities for nursing orientation, staff development, continuing education, competency validation, patient education, and academic experiences. Mentors and role models the care provided by rehabilitation nursing as a specialty.9. Defines and coordinates orientation and staff development needs for all employees. Individualizes orientation/development, evaluates progress through goal setting, and conducts probationary/annual evaluations including the creation and monitoring of performance action plans. Completes orientation 45- and 90-day plan.10. Assists in the development and assessment of annual staff competencies to assure departmental staff members' knowledge and skills fulfill service expectations.11. Consistently provides opportunities for interaction with employees to discuss professional growth, personal concerns, and educational goals.12. Leads performance management initiatives including the prep for regulatory surveys.13. Collaborates with managers to develop unit standards, policies, procedures, protocols, documentation, forms, and performance monitoring tools.14. Facilitates development of strong leadership behavior in unit staffing including orientation of charge nurse, development of unit preceptors, delegation skills, and effective communication.15. Maintains clinical expertise and demonstrates ability to conduct quality/environmental surveillance auditing.16. Promotes an environment supportive of research/ evidenced based practice by serving as a change agent.17. Contributes to professional and scholarly nursing activities.18. Participates in meeting the Goals and Objectives of Rehabilitation Services and ensures the department contributes to the attainment of the hospital's goals.19. Role models and follows all WVU Medicine's Standards of Behavior.20. Demonstrates expert team building skills, problem solving abilities, crucial conversation skills, negotiation, and conflict resolution strategies needed in a high stress environment21.
