POSITION SUMMARY
Perform general nutrition functions within the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. This position, under direct supervision, will work with an interdisciplinary team model involving a variety of health care and child development professionals.
Essential Functions
* Check in visiting patients
* Obtain and document anthropometric data including height, weight, and hemoglobin for nutritionists to assess
* Route clients to the next step in the workflow process
* Maintain labs to meet infection control standards
* Monitor supplies needed for lab and alerts supervisor appropriately
* Assist with providing basic nutrition plans and dietary care to patients
* Conduct nutritional assessments of dietary histories
* Assist nutritionists in food service planning
* Educate clients on healthy eating and nutrition
* Respond in cases of urgent and/or emergent events that require public health interventions. Employees may be trained for and assigned duties unrelated to their regular work; work outside normal business hours and workdays and/or in a different work location may be required. Emergency events include, but are not limited to, communicable disease outbreaks, severe weather situations (e.g. snow or ice storms, tornados, hurricanes), natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes), fire, or power outages, and acts of terrorism.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of two years of human services or related experience
Education:
Post high school Medical Assistant certificate program.
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? N/A
Licenses and Certifications
* May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
* Medical Assistant Certificate

* Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills: Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise
Computer Skills
Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite

Works in an office setting with moderate noise
