In general, the manager will be responsible for assisting in supervising, controlling, and directing the preparation and serving of food and for all Nutrition Service accounting procedures in an individual school.Qualifications:Minimum Education:
- Completion of Certificate of Technology or TASN or SNA level 3
- Serve Safe Certification or equivalent, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
- Food Service operational experience.
- Public relations experience.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of four years (4) experience in the school food service industry or six (6) years in retail food service.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- To assist in the supervisory duties and participate in the preparation and serving of attractive, wholesome, and nutritious food in the quantities needed for student's participation in the unit cafeteria.
- To assist in training Nutrition Service employees and cashiers.
- To assist in assigning tasks and schedule work for Nutrition Service employees.
- To assist in accounting for all financial transactions connected with the serving of meals in the individual cafeteria.
- To assist in ordering and requisition of food and supplies needed for the preparation and serving of meals and to store food and supplies on shelves in storeroom, freezer, and refrigerator.
- To assist in providing refreshments and/or meals for school personnel and administrators when requested to do so.
- To assist in physically inventorying food, equipment and supplies as required.
- To assist in reporting emergency repairs as needed to maintain the Nutrition Service facility.
- To assist in maintaining adequate health requirements in the individual unit that meet or exceed all local, state, or national regulations.
- To assist in completing, reviewing, and submitting payroll for Nutrition Service employees.
- To assist in accurately recording, retaining, and utilizing food production records.
- Will be required to work as a temporary manager in elementary or intermediate schools in situation when the manager is unable to work.
- Manager is responsible for the implementation, training, supervision and management of the District HACCP program in their school
- Maintain TASN/SNA certification level 3, and Health Dept. certification.
- Assist in coordinating catering events, including but not limited to planning, event food prep, event set up, and event take down.
- Perform other duties as may be required by the Director of Nutrition Service.
Working Conditions:Physical Demands:During your entire scheduled work hours you must be physically able to:
- Stand and walk on hard surface floor unassisted
- Walk briskly
- Push and pull carts
- Stoop, bend, kneel, climb
- Lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to load and unload products a maximum height of 60 inches
- Climb a 6 foot ladder
Environment:
- Moderate to heavy exposure to hot and cold temperatures, steam and wet floors and cleaning chemicals.
