Job Summary
The Michigan Nutrition Obesity Research Center (MNORC) is one of 11 U.S. centers designed to inspire and support translational, multi-disciplinary research in obesity and nutrition across the continuum of basic science to applications in individuals (medicine) and populations (public health). Objectives of the MNORC include facilitating the interaction between basic, clinical and population-based researchers in nutrition, obesity and related metabolic disorders and support Core Laboratories providing a range of basic, clinical and translational research tools to investigators.
Responsibilities*
* Provide nutritional education and counseling to participants enrolled in clinical trials
* Research and implement nutrition procedures related to dietary interventions
* Design metabolic diets for specific dietary protocols
* Develop recipes for food items and/or meals as required for research studies
* Coordinate and operate metabolic kitchen to produce research meals
* Perform dietary assessment and analysis with NDSR computer software
* Perform body composition measurements
* Coordinate day to day operations of Nutrition Assessment Laboratory
* Collaborate with study coordinators, ancillary personnel and Principal Investigators
* Manage responsibilities of temporary staff members and dietetic interns
Required Qualifications*
* Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
* Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Computer proficiency
* Excellent interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications*
* Clinical research work experience
* Prior experience with dietary assessment and analysis
* ServSafe certified (or within one year of employment)
