If so, our client is hiring a Nutritional Services Supervisor!What Youll Do:
  • Oversees services, prepares and cooks meals for children and their families including catering and production functions.
  • Work closely with the Director/Principal to establish expectations, plans, and priorities.
  • Adheres to nutritious menus developed by the schools dietician in accordance with the policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for standards, such as sanitation and productivity.
  • Takes a lead role in the purchasing and maintenance of food and materials needed to promote childrens health and well-being.
  • Other primary responsibilities include checking in deliveries and reviewing invoices. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
  • Collaborative effort to encourage hands on activities such as gardening, nutrition activities using fresh foods as well as cooking demonstrations for families and staff.
  • Enthusiastically engage children when presenting food during meal times to promote family style dining and healthy eating habits.
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates, through behavior, service standards.
  • Maintains a keen awareness of children that have allergies and food restrictions. Offers substitute items to children who may be allergic or have other food restrictions.
  • Ensures food service area and food is free of nuts, nut products or food items that have been processed in a facility that also processes nut products according to the policies and procedures.
  • Checks all food labels upon receipt to ensure compliance with this requirement.
  • Follows the daily menu prepared in collaboration with or by the Director/Principal.
  • Follows portion control standards for breakfast, lunch and snacks in preparations.
  • Adaptable and implements changes in menus, if instructed to do so.
  • Ensures that each meal is ready to be served when scheduled.
  • Assists with ordering food and can calculate the amount needed.
  • Maintain a daily inventory for all items served. Replenish this inventory on a weekly basis as needed using items from the school garden to the extent possible.Inpu
  • ts and updates data in CCFP software such as Minute Menu and Kid Care.
  • Prepares reports for CCFP.
  • Stays abreast of food recalls and makes menu adjustments accordingly in consultation with leadership.
  • Maintains an orderly, clean and safe kitchen area at all times, including the proper storage of food and maintenance of equipment.
  • Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
  • Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to policies.
  • Assists in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary.
What You Bring:Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Must meet basic requirements of Department of Children and Families and Child Care Food Program.
  • Ability to relate positively to young children is essential.
  • Previous experience in quantity food preparation is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
  • Exhibit positive social skills and customer service skills while dealing with parents, staff, distributors, colleagues and/or students.
  • Knowledge of established procedures in relation to safety and sanitation as established by DCF Child Care Licensing and Department of Health.
  • Creative, innovative, and receptive to change.
  • Proficient in Windows Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Mathematic capabilities essential to job duties.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
  • Food services ordering and kitchen management software systems
Education and Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Food service experience with infants and/or children.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in the field of food service or food preparation in a childcare or healthcare facility.
Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Associate or bachelors degree in Nutrition.
  • Two to three years experience in the field of food service or preparation with infants and/or children in a childcare facility.
  • Culinary Arts degree.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Must have a current Food Safety Handler Certification.
  • Completion of ServSafe Managers Certification (this course is a requirement and may be completed as part of orientation if not currently attained).
  • Must meet and complete criteria for level 2 background screening as required for child care personnel in child care licensing regulations.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Preferred:
  • Certified Dietary Manager.
  • Culinary Arts certification.
