NVOCC OPERATIONS/OCEAN FREIGHT MANAGER

THIS CANDIDATE CAN BE LOCATED IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS OR BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS

manages the day-to-day operations of ocean freight for the NVOCC Division

including:

  • Managing shipments: Overseeing the end-to-end process of shipments, from booking to delivery
  • Import/Export operations: Be familiar with compliance and trade and customs regulations
  • Communicating with carriers: Ensuring carriers understand requirements, especially for special needs
  • Processing documents: Receiving and processing documents to ensure accuracy
  • Tracking orders: Tracking orders and shipments, and helping with tracing
  • Preparing reports: preparing operational reports and presenting information to Ownership
  • Building relationships: Building and maintaining relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders
  • Negotiating rates: Negotiating rates and contracts with ocean carriers
  • Staying current: Keeping up with changes in laws, regulations, and government requirements
  • Ensuring compliance: Ensuring compliance with regulations, company standards, and other government requirements
  • Recruiting: Recruiting, onboarding, and developing new talent
  • Training team members: Taking the lead and training the team members at each office location
  • Warehousing Operations: Inbound and Outbound warehousing operations
  • Understanding of Trade and Compliance, import/export
  • Long history and understanding of working in the logistics industry including freight forwarding

An ocean freight operations manager should have knowledge of the ocean freight industry, and strong written and verbal communication skills. They should also be able to work in a multicultural environment and have a passion for customer service.
