Job DescriptionDepartment: Building & GroundsTitle: GroundskeeperEmployment Type: SeasonalStatus: Non-ExemptGrade Level: HourlyPay Range: $20.00 per hourReports To: Facilities Management / B & G Supervisor / Team LeaderSchedule: Five days a week, including one weekend day and all holidays that fall during your regular work week.Hours: All staff will work a fixed schedule, with shifts available between 7:00AM and 8:00PMPosition SummaryThe Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the New York Aquarium's grounds, working as a part of a team to meet the high standard set by the Wildlife Conservation Society. This role involves caring for and maintaining the Aquarium's plants, grass, trees, bushes, and seagrasses, ensuring they are watered, trimmed, and kept free of litter.Candidates must have prior groundskeeping and landscaping experience and be proficient in using equipment such as trimmers, saws, and hand tools. The ideal candidate will help maintain the overall appearance of the grounds, ensuring they stay pristine. This role also includes performing minor repairs on gardening tools and equipment.Key Responsibilities •General landscape maintenance including pruning, moving, watering, weeding, and planting•Moving and deploying materials such as mulch, pots, and gravel throughout the park•Groundskeeping tasks such as trash removal, and the disposal of wood, bulk items, and other debris•Using tools like hedge clippers, power washers, weed whackers, and edging tools•Assist team with special projects as needed•Litter removal from our planters and landscaping•reporting needed repairs, damaged equipment and vandalism affecting exhibitsQualification RequirementsQualification Requirements:•Garden and Landscaping experience required•Must be able to lift 40 pounds•Ability to work in all weather conditions is required•Basic proficiency in English for communicationThis role is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about outdoor work and landscape maintenance, offering the chance to contribute to the beauty of the New Yor Aquarium
