Job Description Location: New York Aquarium Department: Merchandise Services Title: Sales Associate Employment Type: Temporary Status: Non-Exempt Grade Level: Hourly Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour Reports To: Manager and/or Supervisor Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available Hours: Varies and are dependent on weather and attendance; schedule subject to change through the spring and summer Position Summary Merchandise Sales Associates prepare, promote, and sell WCS store products while ensuring a safe, fun-filled and educational experience for our guests at the New York Aquarium. Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Sales •Selling WCS store products and increasing sales through cross & up selling and demonstration of product knowledge Service •Provide superior service to guests, including maintaining general knowledge of park exhibits and amenities, answering questions and finding ways to create a positive and educational experience Operations •Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas •Process all forms of payment through the point-of-sale system, adhering to all WCS cash handling and inventory policies •Stock shelves or process deliveries, following departmental inventory control procedures •Assisting the team in carrying out any additional operational duties •Ability to move objectives weighing up to 35 pounds (supplies, etc.) •Remain at assigned posts for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions to assist with operations PERKS of Working with Us! •Free employee access to 5 Parks: surround yourself with animals of all kinds and getting the opportunity to interact and engage with like-minded individuals •Complimentary Guest Park 5 Tickets + 1 Complimentary Parking (After 45 days) •Company provided uniforms •Park Discounts on Merchandise, Food purchases, Memberships and Daily Complimentary Meal •Access to online learning and tuition discounts with Monroe College •Earned Paid Sick Time (when reached a total of hours) •Employee Assistance Program •Free Banking Qualification Requirements Qualifications •Minimum age of 16 years or older •Prior cash handling experience preferred •Customer service oriented •Basic verbal, written, computer, mathematical & communication skills •Proactive and outgoing nature - work efficiently and ability to multitask •Dependable and reliable Location •New York Aquarium (Brooklyn) #LI-DNI
