We strive to attract and retain employees by offering competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package (including retirement) and promotional opportunities.Opportunity SummaryThe US O&M Technician is responsible for the daily monitoring, operation, and maintenance of the US Wind Sparrow Point Steel facility. This role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, overseeing routine and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The technician will also manage site vendors, perform equipment inspections, and contribute to site upkeep while working both independently and as part of a larger team to support wind energy operations.Primary Functions
  • Monitor the operational status of Sparrow Point Steel equipment, ensuring optimal performance by identifying potential issues in real-time. Ensure daily rounds are performed.
  • Control routine drydock and water plant operations, such as performing chemistry testing, drydock gate and gearbox inspections, and pump lubrication and inspection.
  • Monitoring and Testing of Environmental control systems such as sump inspections, and outfall testing and inspections.
  • Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions of site equipment, troubleshoot issues, and take appropriate corrective actions to prevent prolonged downtime or damage.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of site equipment to identify potential issues, such as wear, misalignment, or damage, and report findings for scheduled repairs.
  • Oversee the completion of routine and corrective maintenance tasks performed by external service providers, ensuring compliance with site procedures and safety regulations.
  • Conduct basic routine maintenance and general site upkeep, including cleaning, lubricating components, and inspecting equipment for wear and tear.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using technical drawings, manuals, electrical diagrams, logic diagrams, and control circuitry diagrams, identifying faults and implementing effective repairs.
  • Operate diagnostic tools, as well as hand and power-driven tools, for diagnosing faults and performing maintenance or repairs on site systems and components.
  • Keep the US Wind Team informed of equipment status and any emerging issues that may affect site operations, allowing for proactive planning and timely maintenance.
  • Manage the ordering and tracking of parts, maintaining accurate site inventory, and ensuring timely delivery to minimize downtime during repairs or scheduled maintenance.
  • Set up workload forecasts, schedules, and inventories for labor, spares, and tools, ensuring adequate resources are available and maintaining detailed documentation of work completed and pending tasks.
  • Follow safety protocols, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, identifying hazards, and promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.

Effectiveness in carrying out this responsibility is part of the evaluation of each employee's performance.Working RelationshipsThe US O&M Technician reports to the NAES Manager of O&M Services.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsPhysical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time and routinely lift up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, climb assist, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.Fitness for DutyAll employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. Work ScheduleThis position follows a Monday to Friday work schedule during regular day shift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. On call status will periodically be required.CompensationThe initial starting hourly rate of pay will range from $42.00 - $48.00 depending on experienceJob Qualifications
  • Associate degree in engineering or equivalent technical training knowledge and experience desired
  • Four to six years practical experience in operations and maintenance in a variety of technologies such as turbines, generators, chillers, water treatment systems, electrical distribution, wind, fire protection, and other facility mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Hands-on experience with high and medium voltage systems, including the ability to safely perform switching, isolation, and troubleshooting tasks
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in the wind energy industry, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues independently
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work closely with others on maintenance tasks and projects
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License at all times
